TIME MANAGEMENT IS A MYTH

Many people are out there teaching Time Management Skills, but they are really teaching you how to manage your actions, within an allotted period of time. We simply can’t manage time, since it is constantly ticking away. You can only manage what you do, within the 24 hours or 86,4000 seconds you given per day. Therefore, it should be called Time Action Management.

The first SHIFT you need to make is thinking that you can control time. But, you can control how you spend your time. This dictates what you achieve in your life. The best way to implement Time Action Management skills into your life is by first understanding its high importance. It’s about learning to have clarity and focus on what it is that you really want to be doing with your time.

Your brain is a like a search engine. You need to input the right questions to get the right answers. When you focus on the specific results and the outcomes of what you want to accomplish, it suddenly becomes a lot easier. Focus is first and figuring out how you will achieve your goals is second. Once you understand the value of the different things you desire and input the right questions into your brain, you will start to move towards that outcome, quicker.

Clarity and Focus and both critical in goal setting and achieving, they both allow you to have a sense of fulfillment, knowing that you are moving forward towards the outcomes that matter to you most. When you have a target to aim for and clear criteria and a process to put in place, you will unleash that liberating feeling of success that you are striving to achieve.

Once you have complete clarity on what it is you want to accomplish and you have a means to measure your success, followed by a strong reason why you want to move forward, you will be able to turn your dreams into reality. What are some things that have been sitting on the back-burner on your bucket list that you want to accomplish?

Often, people believe that they can achieve the big goal in one fell swoop. However, that isn’t the case. You need to break down that goal into bite sized pieces and achieve other little goals, on your way to achieving your big dreams, this is called “chunking.” This is the only way to avoid getting frustrated and avoid procrastination. This is where having great organization skills come into play.

Remember, you are 40% more likely to achieve a task, just by writing it down. 
 So, pull out a piece of paper and pen and start organizing your outcomes according to commonalities. For example, write down your goals that relate to your finances, your health, your relationships at home or work. By focusing on these groups or outcomes, you will be able to chunk your time into blocks more efficiently. Your time will be used most wisely and you will feel a sense of accomplishment and the motivation that comes with focusing on what matters to you most.
